WhatsApp on your Apple Watch with an Android phone
Short answer
WhatsApp’s Apple Watch app is a companion to WhatsApp on an iPhone, so it stops working once WhatsApp lives on your Android phone. KeepMyWatch passes WhatsApp messages and calls from the Android phone to the watch, and you can reply or decline from your wrist.
Why WhatsApp’s watch app stops
WhatsApp released an Apple Watch app in November 2025. It is paired with WhatsApp on an iPhone and works as its companion. An Apple Watch can’t pair with an Android phone, so after the switch that app has nothing to talk to.
What works with KeepMyWatch
Tried on Samsung Galaxy S26 and S24 phones with an Apple Watch Series 9:
| On the watch | |
|---|---|
| New messages, with the WhatsApp icon | Works |
| Chats you muted on the phone | Skipped, as on the phone |
| Reply to a message | Works |
| Voice and video calls | Shown, with Decline |
| Answering a call on the watch | Not possibleAnswer on the phone or your earphones. |
Set it up
- Move WhatsApp to the Android phone first. WhatsApp can move your chats from iPhone to Android.
- Pair KeepMyWatch on the phone and the watch (see the switching guide).
- In KeepMyWatch, open Apps and check that WhatsApp is on.
- Set battery use to Unrestricted so messages aren’t held back (see the battery guide).
Your chats stay private
Each message is locked on the phone with a key only the phone and the watch share, and opened on the watch. Our relay passes it along without being able to read it (see is it safe).
