Samsung battery settings for on-time watch alerts

Short answer

Set KeepMyWatch’s battery use to Unrestricted, and add it to Never auto sleeping apps. Then the phone can pass each alert on as it arrives, even after a night on the table.

Why alerts can arrive late

When a phone rests, Android pauses apps to save battery and lets them catch up in short windows. An alert that should reach your wrist at once can then wait. Samsung phones add their own sleeping-apps list on top.

The two settings

  1. Open Settings, Apps, KeepMyWatch, Battery, and choose Unrestricted.
  2. Open Settings, Battery, Background usage limits, Never auto sleeping apps (Never sleeping apps on older phones), and add KeepMyWatch.

In KeepMyWatch, Connection check shows whether battery use is Unrestricted, and its Battery guide opens the right screens.

Check it worked

Leave the phone untouched for half an hour with the screen off, then send yourself a message. It should reach the watch within seconds. This was tried overnight and after a phone restart on Galaxy S26 and S24 phones.

Other Android phones

Most brands have a similar switch, usually called Unrestricted or Don’t optimize, under the app’s battery settings. KeepMyWatch opens that screen for you. So far it has been tried on Samsung Galaxy phones.
